Some new names and some old names can be found on the docket for Walker County's three high school football teams for the upcoming 2010 season.

Realignment has changed the landscape for Gordon Lee, LaFayette and Ridgeland. Region 6-A has expanded for the Trojans, while LaFayette and Ridgeland will also face some new opposition this fall.

The Trojans will get a jump on the regular season on Aug. 20 as the Seahawks of Chattanooga’s Silverdale Baptist comes to Chickamauga for an interstate war. It will be the first time Gordon Lee has a faced a Tennessee squad since a 42-41 overtime win over Boyd-Buchanan in 2005.

Gordon Lee will head to Trenton on Aug. 27 to face Dade County for the first time since 2006 before taking back-to-back weeks off.

The Trojans’ seven-game region slate will kick off on Sept. 17 at Walker, and the Navy-and-White will finally return home on Sept. 24 to face Bremen.

Gordon Lee will travel to play Region 7-AA newbie River Ridge on Oct. 1 in a non-region game before heading to face new 6-A opponent Mount Paran the following week.

Mount Zion will come to Walker County on Oct. 15 before the Trojans trek to Bowdon on Oct. 22. The annual bloodfeud against Trion will take place in Chickamauga on Oct. 29 before the regular season wraps up with a trip to Darlington on Nov. 5.

The LaFayette Ramblers will open the Tab Gable Era on Aug. 27 with a stern test at always-tough Chattooga before Gable’s old team, Trion, comes to Jack King Stadium on Sept. 3.

LaFayette will go on the road for subregion crossover games at Cartersville (Sept. 10) and Murray County (Sept. 17) before an open date on Sept. 24.

The subregion slate will be played during October, starting at Southeast Whitfield on Oct. 1. Ridgeland comes to down for the annual Walker County Civil War on Oct. 8, and the Ramblers will head to Heritage on Oct. 15.

The Orange-and-Black will return home on Oct. 22 to face Dalton and will remain at home to take on Ringgold on Oct. 29.

Ridgeland will begin its quest for a third straight region title on Aug. 27 with a home date against Adairsville in the two teams' first meeting since Ridgeland’s inaugural season of 1989. The Panthers will travel to take on Region 7-AAA foe Allatoona on Sept. 3, but the game will not count as a region game.

The crossover games will be held the following two weeks. The Panthers will play at Cedartown on Sept. 10 before new region opponent Gilmer comes to Happy Valley on Sept. 17.

After a Sept. 24 open date, the stands are sure to be packed when Dalton comes to town on Oct. 1 in what promises to be a huge contest.

Ridgeland, who faced the Catamounts every year between 1990 and 2007, is 0-18 all-time against Big Red.

After a county clash at LaFayette on Oct. 8, the Panthers will entertain Southeast Whitfield on Oct. 15, followed by road games at Ringgold (Oct. 22) and Heritage (Oct. 29).

Both LaFayette and Ridgeland will play one final crossover game on Nov. 7 to determine the four teams headed to the state playoffs.

Opponents and locations are yet to be determined.
