TRACK: Southeast dominates 6-AAA North girls' meet

FORT OGLETHORPE - The Southeast Whifield Lady Raiders track team won nine events and amassed a whopping 196 points to run away with the Region 6-AAA North meet at LFO on Thursday.

Heritage (97 points) won three events and claimed second place after a tight four-way battle. LaFayette (91) was third, followed by LFO (86) and Ringgold (83), while North Murray (26) and Ridgeland (6) rounded out the field.

LFO won three evenst while Ringgold took first once.

Southeast's Brianna Sosebee was the Field MVP as she won the discus (102-11) and placed second in the shot put and triple jump. Teammate Shelby McFarland was Track MVP after winning the 1600 (5:48) and 800 (2:32).

Other winners for the Lady Raiders included Hillary Nevad (triple jump, 34-2), Haley Lock (long jump, 15-10.25), Taquasha O'Neal (400, 1:03.97), Jelisa Griffin (200, 26.60), the 4x100 "A" relay team (50.76) and the 4x400 "A" relay team (4:27).

Cassidy Hairsine claimed two of Heritage's three wins as she won the high jump (5-2) and 300 hurdles (50.37). Moriah Edwards also took first in the 3200 (12:46).

LFO got first place points from Amanda Whitmore (pole vault, 7-0), Jackie Shadeck (shot put, 33-4.5), and Shenise Jordan (100 hurdles, 17.44).

Olivia Mitchell of Ringgold got the final event win with a victory in the 100 (12:63).

The Region 6-AAA meet will be held in Carrollton on Monday.

The boys' Region 6-AAA North meet will be held at LFO next Thursday.
