Mauri Wells
Rome High
Wells was the unquestioned leader on the court for the Lady Wolves who set a single-season wins record. The senior averaged a double-double with 18 ppg and 10 rpg. She shot a staggering 79 percent from the free throw line and was named MVP of the RN-T Holiday Festival, Region 7-AAAA Tournament MVP and Region 7-AAAA player of the year.
Anna Baker
Pepperell
Baker wrapped up her career in Lindale with a stellar senior campaign that saw her average 9.2 ppg, 6.8 apg and 3.04 spg. She helped lead Pepperell to the 7-AA Region championship and their first playoff trip since the 1967 season.
Sarah Barnett
Armuchee
Barnett came on strong in her junior year to help lead the Indians to a playoff appearance. She averaged 10.85 ppg and pulled down nearly five rpg. She was also solid at the free throw line as a 77 percent shooter.
Carrie Anne Caron
Trion
The sophomore Caron was instrumental in helping Trion to a second-round playoff appearance. She led her team in scoring with 14 ppg, and also averaged four spg and three apg while shooting 77 percent from the free throw line.
Shadow Day
Chattooga
Day was one of the top scorers in 7-AA North averaging 12.4 ppg to help Chattooga to a second-place finish in the subregion. The senior was also named to the Region 7-AA All-Region Team. (Day was not available when the all-area pictures were taken.)
Noelle DeFoor
Sonoraville
DeFoor, a senior, finished her career as the top scorer and rebounder in the school’s young history. She averaged 13.1 ppg and 7.1 rpg this season and shot 53 percent from the floor.
Lindsay Evans
Darlington
Evans was the only sophomore on a team full of freshmen and let her play lead the way for the Lady Tigers. She had six triple-doubles, 12 double-doubles and averaged 17.6 ppg and 11.9 rpg to earn her second straight spot on the All-Area Team.
Kristen Little
Cedartown
Little showed that she was just as good on the court as she is on the diamond with a senior year in which she averaged 13 ppg and eight rpg. She has already signed to play softball at Shorter College.
Mel McLean
Coosa
McLean was Coosa’s most consistent offense despite being double-teamed in most of their games. The junior averaged 13.3 ppg and shot 41 percent from three-point range. She was also a 70 percent free throw shooter.
Taylor Palmer
Calhoun
Palmer stepped up big as a freshman to help lead Calhoun to a 7-AA North subregion crown and an undefeated subregion record. She averaged 9.9 ppg, 9.8 rpg and three bpg.
Timia Reynolds
Model
Reynolds was another freshman to make a huge impact in the area this season averaging 11 ppg as well as pulling down five rpg. She also named to the RN-T Holiday Festival All-Tourney Team.
Desiree Scott
Rome High
Scott was another key cog in the Lady Wolves magical season. The senior averaged 14 ppg, three spg and three apg, while also being named to the RN-T Holiday Festival All-Tourney team.
Tori Sexton
Gordon Central
The junior Sexton was the Lady Warriors’ go-to scorer in 2009-2010 by averaging 15 ppg. She also helped on the backboards with six rpg, as well as accounting for three spg.
Terar Stewart
Darlington
Stewart became a force to be reckoned with in the post for Darlington averaging 16.1 ppg and 12.6 rpg in her freshman season. She had 17 double-doubles and pulled down 23 rebounds in one game against Trion.
Monea Ware
Pepperell
Ware averaged a double-double with 14 ppg and 11 rpg during her junior season to help Pepperell to a region championship. She also accounted for 63 steals and was named the Region 7-AA Tourney MVP.

Rockmart
Washington was a do-it-all type player for Rockmart this season with the ability to score inside and outside, handle the ball and play lockdown defense. The junior averaged 19 ppg, seven rpg and four apg to help Rockmart to a Region 7-AA championship and their first state tournament appearance since 1998.
Shaqueille Calhoun
Model
Calhoun was the offensive catalyst for the Devils averaging 19.1 ppg. The sophomore also averaged 8.6 rpg, 4.1 apg and had 58 steals. He was named to RN-T Holiday Festival All-Tournament Team.
Quinton Cotton
Coosa
Cotton served as the distributor at point guard for the Eagles but also did plenty of scoring. The sophomore had 14 ppg, four apg and three spg for a Coosa team that finished second in 7-AA South.
Desmond Curtis
Coosa
The senior Curtis ruled the paint for Coosa both scoring and rebounding from the post. He averaged a double-double with 14 ppg and 11 rpg in his final year playing at the Eagle’s Nest.
Josh Haywood
Model
Haywood shot 51 percent from the floor during his sophomore season mostly because his offensive rebounding allowed him to take high-percentage shots. He averaged 13.1 ppg and 8.7 rpg.
Davante Hudson
Armuchee
Hudson was the floor general for the Indians at point guard. In his senior season at the Reservation, he averaged nine ppg and made nearly a third of his three-point attempts.
Mott Hyde
Calhoun
Hyde was better known for his work on the baseball field before this season but quickly established himself as one of the key players for the Jackets on the court. He averaged 11 ppg and 5.6 rpg. (Hyde was not available when the all-area pictures were taken.)
Will Jones
Darlington
Jones was an ironman for the Tigers, rarely coming off the floor for coach Jim Van Es’ squad. He accounted for 10 ppg and dished four apg to help Darlington to a state tourney appearance.
Ben Lovingood
Pepperell
Lovingood was the most consistent offensive player for the Dragons with his ability to shoot from outside as well as get to the rack. The junior averaged 13 ppg for coach Steve Horne’s squad.
Alex Miller
Gordon Central
Gordon Central looked to Miller for scoring in the post. The junior averaged 12.8 ppg and eight rpg. The big man could also step outside for points, shooting 35 percent from three-point range.
Drew Patrick
Rockmart
Patrick served as the other half of Rockmart’s two-headed monster for the Region 7-AA champs. As a junior, he averaged 15 ppg, five rpg and five apg., and was named the 7-AA Tourney MVP.
Patrick Printup
Adairsville
Printup came on strong after sitting out before the Christmas break with an injury. The senior point guard scored 13 ppg and also dished out 4.5 apg for the Tigers.
Rashad Ramsey
Chattooga
Ramsey was the fourth leading scorer in the area at 17.6 ppg and was named to the 7-AA All-Region Team and All-Tourney Team. He also had 6.1 rpg to help Chattooga to a playoff appearance.
Taylor Shropshire
Rome High
Shrophshire was one of the premiere big men in the area, averaging 18.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg. He was named the RN-T Holiday Festival MVP and scored a school-record 38 in one game.
Justin Zachary
Sonoraville
Zachary was one of the best offensive players in Greater Rome, averaging 16 ppg for the Phoenix. The junior guard also had 3.2 apg and shot an outstanding 80 percent from the free throw line.
