The Calhoun Lady Jackets soccer team defeated cross-town rival Sonoraville 3-0 on Thursday.

The Lady Jackets controlled the game with 22 shots on goal to Sonoraville’s two.

Calhoun took the lead early when Danielle White scored off an assist by Danielle Phillips in the first minute of the game.

White added another goal, 10 minutes into the second half, off an assist my Raven Price.

The two then reversed roles 20 minutes later as Price found the back of the net after White set her up.

“White was the general on the field for us,” said CHS Coach Randy Rice. “She and Price switched back-and-forth from forward to the midfield. They both controlled the midfield.”

Monica Quinn was a stopper on defense for the Lady Jackets.

“The Phoenix provided a solid team effort,” said SHS Coach Kristen McGuire.

Rice added that Sonoraville has improved greatly.

Sonoraville’s keeper Araceli Macias made 18 saves.
