In Ringgold, the Heritage Generals took advantage of a costly Gordon Lee error in the bottom of the sixth inning and beat the Trojans, 4-1, in the season opener for both teams Monday night.

Riley Sparks threw three innings, striking out five to get the win. He also added a double at the plate. Hunter White had the other two hits for Heritage (1-0).

Blaine Bussey went six innings for Gordon Lee (0-1), striking out three but getting no decision. Alan Tahler took the loss in relief after giving up three runs in the sixth.

Bussey had a double while the other three hits for the Trojans came off the bat of Bryce Bailey, who also drove in Gordon Lee's lone run of the game in the top of the second inning.
