The LaFayette Ramblers won a coin toss at Heritage High School Wednesday morning and will be the No. 1 seed when the Region 6-AAA North boys’ basketball tournament begins play Thursday afternoon at Heritage.
LaFayette (8-2 in the subregion) will wait until Friday night for their first game. The Ramblers will face the winner of the game between No. 4 Heritage (5-5) and No. 5 Southeast (2-8).
Ringgold (8-2), the No. 2 seed, will battle either No. 3 Ridgeland (7-3) or No. 6 LFO (0-10) on Friday.
First-round games will take place on Thursday with the third-place and championship games to be played on Saturday.
On the girls’ side, also to be played at Heritage, top-seeded LFO (10-0) will take on either Heritage or Ringgold, who tied for the No. 4 seed with identical 3-7 subregion records.
The other first-round game, also to be played on Thursday, pits No. 3 LaFayette (6-4) against No. 6 Ridgeland (0-10).
The girls’ third-place and championship games will also be played on Saturday.
The top three teams will advance to next weekend’s Region 6-AAA tournament at Cartersville High School.
