That was the sentiment across the country Wednesday as high school football players took the next step in their careers and made their college choices official on National Signing Day.
A total of 17 Greater Rome players signed letters of intent, 11 of which were to Division I schools helping to make the Class of 2010 one of the most heralded recruiting classes in recent memory.
Along with Calhoun’s four D-I signees (see story above), Adairsville saw five players confirm their choices on Wednesday including Clemson commit Vic Beasley and Georgia Tech commit Catlin Alford.
“It feels great just to be able to sign with a D-I football team and be able to go to the next level,” said Beasley, who will play tight end for the Tigers.
“This is like the payoff for a lifetime of hard work,” Alford said. “I can’t wait to get there. It’s going to be a great opportunity.”
