However, the Trojans weren't having it.
Gordon Lee carried a 30-point advantage into halftime and thumped the visiting Eagles, 75-48, for their ninth win in a row overall.
"We talked about not having a letdown after a big win," head coach Ed Clendenen said. "We always want to try and play the same, no matter who we're playing, and I'm proud of this bunch because that's the attitude they carry into every game."
The Trojans (14-5, 8-0) jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the first quarter and were never threatened.
They pushed the lead to 20 halfway through the second quarter, and Ryan Culbreth's lay-up beat the first-half buzzer to give the Navy-and-White a 42-12 lead at intermission.
Excel (4-14, 0-6) managed just three baskets in the first half as they struggled to keep their heads above water against a smothering Gordon Lee defense.
The Trojans substituted frequently in the second half as they cruised to the victory.
Culbreth led the way with 25 points. Daniel Brooks had 16 points, including four 3-pointers, while Derek Roberts added 14.
Joe West had 13 points for the Eagles, who saw their losing streak extended to 13 games.
Gordon Lee will host Mount Zion in another Region 6-A game on Friday.
