The Lady Warriors fell to Pickens County Monday night 66-42.

“We put ourselves in a hole we could not fight out of,” said GC Head Coach Lee DuBose. “We didn’t do the little things that would keep us in it but we worked hard."

The Gordon Central girls’ basketball team played hard and stuck with a very good Pickens team in the first quarter, trailing by only two points. The Lady Warriors were still in the game at the half, trailing by eight.

However, Pickens got hot in the third quarter as they began to pull away. By the end of the third quarter Gordon Central trailed 53-34.

“It was a good ball game and we played pretty well in the first half,” said DuBose. “They are a good ball team and they came out in third quarter and started shooting the ball.”

Monica Mills led the Lady Warriors with 12 points. She also added three assists and two steals. Tori Sexton netted 11 and also had two steals.

Katie Norton scored eight and picked up three rebounds and four steals. Christina Cannon and Taylor Simpson each had three rebounds.

Pickens was led by Jazmine Goss with 21 points. Megan Womack added 15. Pickens hit eight 3-pointers in the game.
