The Lady Phoenix rolled over Rockmart on Friday 68-34. Sonoraville outscored the Lady Jackets 24-9 in the second quarter to take a commanding lead.

“We used a big second quarter and a good defensive effort in the second half to pull away,” said SHS Head Coach Stephanie Caudell. “We were able to steal the ball and force a lot of turnovers that turned into easy scoring opportunities.”

Noelle Defoor led the Lady Phoenix with nine 12 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Hannah Smith followed with 10 points and six rebounds. Payton Smith scored nine points, had four assists and three steals.

Jennilee Gentry netted eight points and added six rebounds. Brittany Redd added seven points, four assists and three steals.

Berkley Potts added six rebounds.

“Payton and Jennilee led us in the second quarter,” said Caudell. “Hannah also had a good all-around game. I was really proud of our defense.”

Alana Jones led Rockmart with 10 points.
