While two Greater Rome teams will be fighting for a region championship, four other local teams will be fighting for a playoff spot this Friday night in Week 11.

The slate is highlighted by the Region 7-AA championship game, where the top-ranked Calhoun Yellow Jackets will host the Armuchee Indians in a matchup of subregion champs. The winner will be a No. 1 seed in the playoffs, and the loser will be a No. 2 seed. Both teams will get to host opening-round postseason games, and will face 6-AA foes.

Also this Friday, the Chattooga Indians will host Rockmart and the Adairsville Tigers will host Pepperell in the Region 7-AA “play-in” games. The winners of these two games will earn berths in the state playoffs. Both teams will open on the road against teams from 6-AA.

Numerous other local teams will be involved in region crossover games that will have no postseason ramifications.

In Region 6-A, the Darlington Tigers, who have already clinched the region title, will look to complete an undefeated run through 6-A when they host Trion.
