Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe won its fourth consecutive region title on Thursday at Jack Mattox Recreational Complex.

The Lady Warriors defeated Heritage, 8-0, in the 6-AAA finals to extend their winning streak to 10 games.

LFO head coach Tony Ellis said he was pleased with his team's determination and hard work.

"It feels good," he said of the win. "I think most people counted us out two weeks ago when we were 9-8. We did what we had to do when we had to do it."

The Generals edged Ridgeland, 3-2, in nine-innings to face LFO.

Warriors' pitcher Monica Vickery tossed a one-hitter and struck out three batters.

LFO had a total of nine hits.

Jodie Archer had three hits - including a double - and four RBIs.

The LFO senior said losing the crown wasn't an option after winning it her freshman, sophomore and junior year.

She said she hopes to win the state title too.

"This is huge," she said. "Coming into this game we knew they were going to be fired up from the Ridgeland game. But we were fired up more."

Maryann Morgan also had three hits for the Red-and-White.

LFO and Heritage will host the first-round of the Georgia Class AAA State Sectionals, set to began on Tuesday.
