Trion Bulldogs blast Gordon Central

And they got what they wanted.
With the supporters in full voice at Sam McCain stadium, the Bulldogs earned a 37-19 victory and evened their record at 2-2.
Ryan Wilson finished the night with 144 yards rushing on 21 carries for Trion.
The Bulldogs elected to receive and Lamar Lashley took the opening kickoff back 36 yards to put Trion in good field position to open up the game.
Trion opened the scoring after a seven play drive, with quarterback Hayden Tucker scampering into the end zone from three yards out.
Gordon Central fired right back after a seven play 67 yard drive, with a 44 yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Dre Prather to Tyshawn Clements which knotted things up at seven apiece.
The next few possessions produced no results for either team, until early in the second quarter when Prather again fired a long touchdown pass, this time to Nigel Curtis.
The point after attempt was blocked by Trion, making the score 13-7. Gordon Central would strike again after a failed fourth down conversion attempt by Trion, this time via a Prather pass to wide receiver Diondre Curtis.
This made the score 19-7 in favor of the visitors after a failed 2-point conversion attempt by Gordon Central.
Although Gordon Central appeared to have the game well under control, Trion really came alive just before the half, and after pinning Gordon Central deep in their own territory on a punt, the Bulldog defense came up big with a safety that completely changed the momentum of the game.
After receiving the ensuing kick, Trion managed the clock well and marched down the field to eventually produce an 18-yard touchdown run on a quarterback keeper by Tucker. The extra point brought Trion within 19-16 at the half.
The Warriors received the kick to open up the third quarter, but Trion produced a great defensive effort, and forced Gordon Central to punt. From that point on it was all Bulldogs, and Trion again marched the ball down the field on an 8 play drive for 85 yards that ended with a 1 yard touchdown run by Ryan Wilson to give the Bulldogs the lead, 23-19.
Prather was intercepted by Trion’s Tanner Heyer on Gordon Central’s next possession, and Trion’s offense made no mistake as they increased their lead to 30-19 on another touchdown run by Tucker.
Trion had Gordon Central reeling after scoring 22 unanswered — and the Bulldogs weren’t done yet. Ryan Wilson closed the scoring out on a 4 yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter that put the game out of reach for the Warriors.
