Calhoun senior Michael Johnson will not play football this season, and will instead concentrate on baseball, according to a report published by Georgia High Football Daily.

Calhoun head coach Hal Lamb could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.

Playing quarterback last season, Johnson threw for over 2,500 yards with 25 touchdowns. He was a first-team All-State selection (Class AA) after leading Calhoun to the state championship game in the Georgia Dome, where the Jackets fell to top-ranked Buford.

On the baseball field, Johnson plays shortstop for the Yellow Jacket, who made a trip to the quarterfinals of the Class AA state playoffs last season.

Darlington transfer and Vanderbilt commit Nash Nance will likely head into the season as Jackets’ first-string quarterback.

I agree. Nance looks good until the lights come on and then its CHOKE......Too many bad decisions....Clearly not a D-1 talent. He should have stayed in Class A ball at Darlington. Already being exposed as overrated playing against better competition. Da'Rick is the real deal though..Know that!!

oh i can just about guarantee that it had a lot to do with the recruit....oh sorry the transfer. oh yeah there are gonna be some haters on here but i dont care, even the haters know its true. the only funny thing about it is that calhoun probably had a better chance winning state with Johnson. Nothing againts Nance, but there it is.

Way to go Mikey! We are very proud of you. God gave you the ability to be a great athlete and you gave the team 110% without any promises attached. I know you love the game and I'm sorry that this "coach" doesn't care about the kids and isn't thankful for those of you who have gotten "his" team this far. That's ok though. Karma really bites.
