Golf: Gordon Lee boys open 2009 season

The Gordon Lee boys' golf team began their season 1-4 after their first three matches.

On Monday at Indian Trace in Chatsworth, the Trojans lost to Murray County, 165-199.

Aubrey McKinley paced Gordon Lee with a 45. James Gaither carded 48. Ryan Spiess shot a 49 while Taylor Sprayberry finished at 57.

Zach Gibson's 40 paced the Indians.

On Tuesday at Battlefield, the Trojans lost to Calhoun and Heritage, but claimed a win over Ridgeland.

Westin Brumlow and Nash Nance each had 41's for Calhoun (166) while Hunter Cornelison's 45 led a 186 effort for the Generals.

McKinley topped the Trojans (190) with a 46. Gaither and Sprayberry each shot 47 while Speiss had a 50.

Ridgeland (239) was led by Will Martin and Austin Hamilton, who both carded a 54. Nick Kerr had a 60 while Dakota Hardin fired a 71.

Then on Thursday at the Trenton Golf Club, the Trojans fell to the Dade County Wolverines, 150-184.

Trey Clendenen shot a 41 for Gordon Lee. Gaither had a 45. McKinley fired a 47 while Speiss carded a 51.

Tyler Mai had a 36 for the Wolverines.

Gordon Lee will play Tuesday at Battlefield in a match that will also include Ridgeland, Trion and Dade County. On Wednesday, the Trojans and Heritage will face off at Brown Acres.
