Basketball roundup: Lady Trojans take control in 6-A

The No. 7-ranked Gordon Lee Lady Trojans got 15 points from Lesslie Bohannon and won a Region 6-A showdown at Trion by a score of 57-53.

Alli O'Neal had 12 points and eight rebounds for Gordon Lee (14-2, 3-0). Holli Brooks had 10 points while Jordan Bohannon also had 10 points, including a pair of free throws with six seconds left to seal the win.

Alexa Rush paced Trion with 15 points.

Trion boys 51, Gordon Lee 41

Playing without the injured Grayson Chambers, the reigning 6-A Player of the Year, the Trojans saw their winning streak snapped with a loss to the Bulldogs.

Ryan Culbreth had 20 points for Gordon Lee (13-3, 2-1).

Southeast girls 79, LaFayette 65

In LaFayette, the Lady Ramblers had a 20-0 third quarter run to tie the game, but ran out of gas late to drop their first Region 6-AAA game.

Keri O'Neal had 23 points and 18 rebounds for the Lady Ramblers (7-10, 3-1). Emily White added 11 points while Kelsie Byrd finished with 10.

The nightcap saw the Raiders hang on for a 53-50 win that dropped the Ramblers to 7-10 overall and 1-3 in the subregion.

Ringgold girls 52, Ridgeland 37

In Rossville, the Lady Tigers scored the 6-AAA win behind 11 points from Allie Fairchild.

Shakilya McLin had 17 for Ridgeland (3-16, 0-4) while Rhande Haskett added 12.

Ridgeland boys 57, Ringgold 42

The boys' game saw Derrick Sanders score 17 to help send the Panthers to 16-2 overall and 4-0 in subregion action.

Devin Bowman added 10 in the win while Terrence Mitchell led Ringgold with 11.

Trion, winners of six of their last seven games, outrebounded Gordon Lee 37 to 16. Chris Logan led the Dogs in scoring with 14 points, while Perry Klouda had 13 and Ramsey Thomas had 11. Logan had 4 treys and Lamar Lashley had 2. Trion plays at Armuchee Saturday at 3:30.
