Calhoun (7-2, 5-0) at

No. 2 Pepperell (9-0, 5-0)

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

Series History: Calhoun leads 10-2

Last Meeting: Sept. 2, 2005, Calhoun won 50-28

Players to watch:

Calhoun: QB Michael Johnson, WR/DB Rhett McGowan, WR Da’Rick Rogers, RB Kedron Aker, RB Dustin Christian, LB James Hunt, LB Carter Harrison, OL Rhett Jackson, DL Eric McDaniel, K Adam Griffith.

Pepperell: QB Jonathan Watters, RB Brandon Whitaker, RB Marcus Jackson, WR Rashan Smith, TE/DL Matt Kelley, DB Blake Alvey, LB Logan Osborne, OL/DL Michael Ozment, K Favian Graham.

Keys to the game:

Calhoun: The Yellow Jackets’ passing game has definitely been their strong suit this season with Michael Johnson behind center. Keeping their air attack constant could provide opportunities for their backs to hit some holes when the time arises for a much-needed first down or score.

Pepperell: The Dragons’ blocking up front has helped them reach 9-0 so it will be a big plus for them tonight — but they’ll need a lot of endurance to fight off the Jackets’ D-line. Pepperell’s defense will need to be extra focused for Calhoun’s versatile offense while a keen eye on special teams could be the deciding factor.

RN-T pick: Pepperell 28-21

No. 5 Rome (8-1, 6-0) at Sprayberry (6-3, 5-0)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: First meeting

OUTLOOK: The Region 7-AAAA championship will be on the line and the Wolves will be in top form. Sprayberry’s offense may control the ball more than Rome would like but with the quick attacks the Wolves displayed against Dalton, it should be a victorious ride back from Marietta.

 RN-T PICK: Rome, 35-14

 RADIO: WATG-FM 95.7

Sonoraville (7-2, 3-2)

at Coosa (5-4, 3-2)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: First meeting

OUTLOOK: As the No. 2 seed from Region 7-AA North, the Sonoraville Phoenix have a historic contest ahead of them tonight as they try to earn a berth in the state playoffs for the first time in school history. Their players are full of determination but the Eagles have wanted it just as bad. The home field advantage nabs it.

 RN-T PICK: Coosa, 17-12

Chattooga (6-3, 3-2) at Rockmart (6-3, 4-1)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Chattooga leads 17-8

LAST MEETING: Sept. 21, 2007, Rockmart won 21-12

OUTLOOK: These two teams have battled it out in the regular season most years. This time around, the winner earns a spot in the postseason. Chattooga has regained their confidence and is looking sharp once again but it is Rockmart’s passing game that will bring the Jackets back to the playoffs.

 RN-T PICK: Rockmart, 27-17

Trion (3-6, 2-3) at

Darlington (5-4, 3-2)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Darlington leads 7-2

LAST MEETING: Oct. 17, 2003, Trion won 20-13

OUTLOOK: Darlington told the fat lady to stay home last week with a win over Gordon Lee to extend their season. Now they’re home with a shot at claiming the No. 3 seed in Region 6-A. Expect Trion to surge in the second half but a more cool and collective Tiger squad will prevail.

 RN-T PICK: Darlington, 28-14

 RADIO: WLAQ-AM 1410, WZQZ-AM 1180

Adairsville (4-5, 2-3) at

Model (4-5, 2-3)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Adairsville leads 16-9

LAST MEETING: Sept. 26, 2008, Adairsville won 44-36, OT

OUTLOOK: In 7-AA’s lone rematch of the night, Adairsville rolls into Shannon to try to go 2-0 against the Blue Devils in this rare home-and-home season series. Both are the No. 4 seeds in their subregions and have struggled with injuries lately but the Tigers still have bite.

 RN-T PICK: Adairsville, 30-17

Gordon Central (5-4, 2-3) at Armuchee (5-4, 1-4)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Armuchee leads 1-0-1

LAST MEETING: Oct. 9, 1987, Armuchee won 15-11

OUTLOOK: The region play-in format brings these two teams back together this season after they met in their preseason scrimmage. Both teams could be considered nominees for most improved team in 7-AA and a close battle should end with the Indians on top.

 RN-T PICK: Armuchee, 24-20

 RADIO: WJTH-AM 900

Cedartown (3-6, 2-2) at Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe (4-5, 2-2)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Cedartown leads 2-0

LAST MEETING: Oct. 20, 1995, Cedartown won 37-7

OUTLOOK: It’s all for pride in the far northern end of the state for Cedartown. Ending with a win over the Warriors will help pick up the team heading into the offseason and we think they’ll do it.

 RN-T PICK: Cedartown, 27-14
