Armuchee (4-1, 0-1)
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
Series History: Pepperell leads 12-0-1
Last Meeting: Nov. 2, 2007, Pepperell won 49-7
Players to watch:
Pepperell: QB Jonathan Watters, RB Brandon Whitaker, RB Marcus Jackson, RB Jonathan Shooks, TE/DL Matt Kelley, DB Kendric Cheeks, LB Logan Osborne, OL/DL Michael Ozment.
Armuchee: QB T.C. Boyd, TB Davante Hudson, TB Dalton Earwood, TE/OLB Kyle Davis, FB Richard Sims, LB Jake Schmidt, DE Jake Nix, LB Jason Vasser, K Tommy Harris.
Keys to the game:
Pepperell: The Dragons are the talk of the region and the state apparently. Moving up to No. 3 in the state this week, Pepperell is continuing to prove why they are the best. Keeping teams off balance will be the key from here on out. Mixing the run game with passing support can go a long way … like to the postseason.
Armuchee: Those who counted out the Tribe are scratching their heads after their “Win of the Decade” last week over Chattooga. But there is more than just confidence that goes into winning games. The Indians will need to keep focused and not let Pepperell take them out of their game.
RN-T pick: Pepperell 34-14

No. 10 Rome (4-1, 2-0) at Woodland (3-2, 0-2)
TIME: 7:30 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY: Rome leads 5-1
LAST MEETING: Sept. 30, 2005, Rome won 55-13
OUTLOOK: It may have been a little rough last week but the Rome Wolves are still traveling down victory road. Their next 7-AAAA North game tonight should go much smoother. With a stronger sense of urgency, Rome will be primed to face their toughest opponents at the end of the season.
RN-T PICK: Rome, 35-10
RADIO: WATG-FM 95.7
Walker (1-4, 0-1) at
Darlington (2-3, 0-1)
TIME: 7:30 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY: Darlington leads 1-0
LAST MEETING: Aug. 30, 2003, Darlington won 45-0
OUTLOOK: A 0-1 region record is not how Darlington wanted to begin their newest endeavor into 6-A. They should be clear to even that up tonight as they play the Wolverines for just the second time in school history. The Tigers’ defense has been a constant for them in the first half of the season and should propel the offense to a win.
RN-T PICK: Darlington, 27-12
RADIO: WLAQ-AM 1410
Chattooga (3-1) at
Sonoraville (4-0)
TIME: 7:30 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY: Chattooga leads 2-0
LAST MEETING: Nov. 9, 2007, Chattooga won 43-8
OUTLOOK: What originally was a highly anticipated game has turned into an important game. With the Phoenix back from an off week, Sonoraville will look to continue their undefeated season with new vigor. Chattooga’s Indians have a goal to prove that their recent head coaching change will not distract them. The first Region 7-AA North contest for both is a big one. Chattooga should prevail.
RN-T PICK: Chattooga, 30-13
Calhoun (2-2) at
Gordon Central (3-1)
TIME: 7:30 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY: Gordon Central leads 5-4-1
LAST MEETING: Aug. 31, 2001, Calhoun won 22-3
OUTLOOK: For the first regular season meeting between these two teams in seven years, there is a lot of hype. Not only will the Warriors have the better record heading into tonight but the Gordon County battle also counts as a subregion contest. The Yellow Jackets proved to all that they are still a force on the football field last week. They should remain so tonight.
RN-T PICK: Calhoun, 40-21
RADIO: WEBS-AM 1030, WJTH-AM 900
Trion (2-3, 1-0) at
Gordon Lee (2-2, 0-0)
TIME: 7:30 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY: Trion leads 46-13-1
LAST MEETING: Nov. 9, 2007, Gordon Lee won 15-0
OUTLOOK: As one of the longest running football series in Northwest Georgia, this Region 6-A match-up has leaned towards Gordon Lee’s favor in recent years. With both teams still searching to find their footing, this game could be close like most of their meetings have. But, the Trojans of Chickamauga are an athletic bunch.
RN-T PICK: Gordon Lee, 24-20
RADIO: WZQZ-AM 1180
Dade County (0-4) at Adairsville (2-2)
TIME: 7:30 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY: Adairsville leads 6-0
LAST MEETING: Nov. 9, 2007, Adairsville won 31-6
OUTLOOK: Johnny Gulledge began his second tenure at Adairsville with a heart-pounding overtime victory. Tonight’s game against Region 7-AA North foe Dade County is very favorable to give him another, less stressful, win. With Niagel Curtis in the backfield, the points should come easy.
RN-T PICK: Adairsville, 35-14
Temple (1-3) at
Rockmart (2-2)
TIME: 7:30 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY: Rockmart leads 2-0
LAST MEETING: Nov. 2, 2007, Rockmart won 48-6
OUTLOOK: Wins over state-ranked Bremen and Dade County seem a long time ago for the Jackets with their off week last week. Now with the Tigers from Carroll County, Rockmart should be able to pick up where they left off and get a Region 7-AA South victory to boot.
RN-T PICK: Rockmart, 27-7
N.C. School for the Deaf at
Ga. School for the Deaf (2-2)
TIME: Saturday, 2 p.m.
OUTLOOK: Homecoming week at GSD will welcome the North Carolina School for the Deaf to Cave Spring. The host Tigers suffered a tough loss last week but should rebound Saturday. But NCSD does have a talented running back.
RN-T PICK: GSD, 60-48
