Gordon Central (1-0)

at Coosa (0-1)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: First meeting

KEYS TO THE GAME

GORDON CENTRAL: Gordon Central has a wide array of talent, and they displayed that well in their Week 1 win over Model. Quarterback Dre Prather, who has recovered from a preseason head injury, is likely to cause considerable problems for the Eagles’ secondary tonight.

COOSA: Coosa, which lost to Class AAAA Starr’s Mill last week, has a chance to make a statement tonight, assuming the Eagles can protect the ball — and protect QB Jared Vancuren.

OUTLOOK: Be prepared for plenty of scoring tonight ... from both teams. And our hunch is that the Warriors will have one more

bullet than Coosa does.

RN-T PICK: G. Central, 36-28

Cartersville (1-0) at Darlington (1-0)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Cartersville leads 11-2

LAST MEETING: Nov. 2, 2001, Cartersville won 35-17

KEYS TO THE GAME:

OUTLOOK: The Hurricanes surprised some people with their opening-week win over Pepperell. They showed that their shotgun spread can cause problems with the amount of athletes they put on the field and get involved with short passes and handoffs. The Tigers picked up right where they left off last season, blowing out Sonoraville 57-20. Their defense and special teams accounted for 23 points, and their rushing attack also showed its potency with three touchdowns on the ground. The Tiger Stadium crowd should be ramped up for this one.

RN-T PICK: Darlington, 28-20

Armuchee (1-0) at Calhoun (1-0)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Calhoun leads 10-7

LAST MEETING: Nov. 6, 2009, Calhoun won 49-10

OUTLOOK: Calhoun was on the ropes last week against Dalton, but stormed back for a big second-half to take down the Catamounts. Armuchee was impressive in their win over Trion, but running back Trey Pledger left in the third quarter with a knee injury and will not play tonight. The Jackets’ talent will be too much for a shorthanded Indians’ squad.

RN-T PICK: Calhoun, 35-14

Chattooga (0-1) at Pepperell (0-1)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Chattooga leads 13-11

LAST MEETING: Oct. 21, 2005, Pepperell won 21-13

OUTLOOK: They Dragons took a big blow last Friday when running back Janier Ferguson was lost to a hand injury against Cartersville and will miss at least a few weeks. Chattooga fought hard against LaFayette but didn’t have enough to overcome the Ramblers. Even without Ferguson, Pepperell should still be able to pound out a win against Chattooga’s undersized defense.

RN-T PICK: Pepperell, 21-10

Dade County (1-0) at Adairsville (0-1)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Adairsville leads 8-0

LAST MEETING: Oct. 2, 2009, Adairsville won 21-7

OUTLOOK: Adairsville hung in with a very talented Ridgeland team for three quarters until the Panthers pulled away late. Dade County looked very impressive in a smashing of Gordon Lee. This isn’t the same old Dade County, but the Tigers should still have enough to pull out the win.

RN-T PICK: Adairsville, 24-17

Lithia Springs (1-0) at Cedartown (0-1)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Cedartown leads 4-0

LAST MEETING: Sept. 4, 1981, Cedartown won 42-0

OUTLOOK: Cedartown got to play just over a half of football against Rockmart due to lightning shortening the game so they haven’t really had a full evaluation yet. Lithia Springs is a pretty uncommon opponent and are 1-0 after beating Haralson County last week. Because of the uncertainty in the matchup, this one could go either way.

RN-T PICK: Cedartown, 17-15

North Murray (0-1) at Rockmart (1-0)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: First meeting

OUTLOOK: Rockmart got a weather-shortened win over Cedartown, and will look forward to getting in a full game this week against 7-AA newcomer North Murray. The second-year team will be in for a long night on the road as Rockmart’s speed should run to a big night.

RN-T PICK: Rockmart, 45-14

Rome High (1-0) at Cass (1-0)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Rome leads 2-0

LAST MEETING: Sept. 18, 2009, Rome won 27-20

OUTLOOK: Despite their win last week over Johns Creek, the Rome offense looked stagnant and unable to get anything going consistently. Cass, on the other hand, picked Woodland apart in a 42-12 thrashing. The Wolves and the Colonels are very similar teams with lots of athletes on the field. This will be a close one.

RN-T PICK: Cass, 20-16

Sonoraville (0-1) at Model (0-1)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Model leads 2-1

LAST MEETING: Nov. 6, 2009, Sonoraville won 30-10

OUTLOOK: Both teams took tough opening losses in Week 1. Model showed some signs of life in the second half against Gordon Central, running the ball with consistency. The Phoenix struggled throughout the entire game against a tough Darlington team. Lynn Hunnicutt could be looking at his first win as Devils head coach.

RN-T PICK: Model, 31-21

Trion (0-1) at LaFayette (1-0)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Trion leads 24-20

LAST MEETING: Sept. 4, 2009, LaFayette won 34-20

OUTLOOK: These two rivals always seem to play close games. LaFayette held off Chattooga last week, while Trion was defeated at Armuchee. The Bulldogs will use their hard-nosed running game to control the clock and the game. LaFayette will have a tough time stopping Trion.

RN-T PICK: Trion, 33-16

East Atlanta (0-1) at Unity Christian (0-1)

(at Ben Brady Field)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: First meeting

OUTLOOK: Both of these teams are looking for their first wins this year after being beaten big in their openers. Unity will be playing at their new permanent home, Ben Brady Field on the Shorter University campus. The excitement of that should help them play inspired football.

RN-T PICK: Unity Christian, 29-21
